Galaxy s3 "Not registered on network" error.

Just got a new boxed galaxy s3 from eBay (an unwanted upgrade) for £100 pounds less. It turns out that the phone was locked to T - mobile because it asks for a pin even though the network it available. Any attempt to call or send an SMS results in the above error. To check if your phone is locked type in *#7465625# as if you were making a call. If network lock says on then your phone is locked. You will need to buy an unlock code from the internet and the phone will be unlocked within 3 hours. If your phone is unlocked and you still get this error just activate your data on the phone.

Galaxy s stops working in the middle of an update

I recently attempted to update my girlfriend's galaxy s i19000 with the value pack via kies on usb. Kies showed an error saying it could not recognise the device and that i should disconnect and take the battery out, and turning the phone back on after replacing the battery. The phone would not go past a screen with an icon of a phone with a computer showing a broken link between the phone. I thought i had had it and lost everything. The phone was no longer responding. The forums seemed to suggest taking it to sumsang.  I decided to use a software called Odin which is freely available on the net. I also needed firmware  which is also freely available on sites like sammobile.com. The method is so simple and very quick. It took just under 3 minutes. The phone is now up to date and no data was lost including settings. The lesson here is that kies is crap and could cause major disruption. Imagine if i had lost all the data, photos and everything.

Here comes the next Samsung Galaxy. Galaxy S3 maybe?

With Samsung refusing to even confirm the name of their next galaxy, many can hardly wait to see what it brings. The good news is that the announcement comes tomorrow evening (4th May 2012) in the UK. Early speculation suggests a better camera and video quality, never seen before processor with better battery usage, ics as stock, own version of siri (s talk) and many more. Well, only a few more hours to go  :-).

Galaxy s2 battery drain after ics update (Poor battery life)

So if you have now got your ics update you will be over the moon. I have had mine for a few days and i have to say, it's the best mobile phone operating system i've ever used (yes i've used ios longer than i've been on android). I'm not going to go into this though. I've noticed one problem which is battery drain. Now i don't know the technical stuff apart from things like turning off bluetooth, wifi, etc saves battery. I'm gonna tell you that you don't need to change any of the settings you had before the upgrade. What you need to do is let your battery go flat and then charge it fully from the mains not bluetooth. Do this a few times (usually takes a week of using ics to sort the problem out) and the system seems to optimise battery use and should be back to how it was before the upgrade.

Speaktoit Assistant - Siri android alternative

I have been searching and testing several products on the android market for a while. Previously, i may have said that evi was quite good. Having done more testing, i think i like the speaktoit assistant. It's more advance than all all the ones i've used so far. It can also do a lot more tasks and comes closer to holding a conversation than the others. So have a look on the market and see what you think.
