I have been looking for the best way to use a browser that supports flash on android for a long time. I've always used the stock browser and chrome. I tried Puffin as well which is the best browser in a range of benchmarks (look for a post comparing android browsers on my blog) but it is only the best for american users. Keeps telling me that I can't watch BBC iPlayer programmes, for example, because Puffin's servers are in America. Then came the Dolphin browser. The bonus is that it's visibly fast. So last week I decided to sell my galaxy s4 and to give my galaxy tab 10.1 to my father in law. Got £265 for my s4 on eBay by the way. I got thinking about which device could handle being both a tablet and a phone. The galaxy tab 3 was top of my list. I chose the 8" because it's light and has the best camera of the tab 3s. Off I went to O2 Crawley were 3 staff laughed at me when I said I wanted the tablet to also use as a phone. They said the 3 or 4g only referred to data not gsm support. Little did they know that I always do my homework and know my Samsung gadgets. I bought it for £350 and put my O2 card in and that was it, a very functional big phone. I did let O2 know to inform their staff about the gadget's capability. First thing I noticed was battery drain and Google+ was responsible for over 40%. This was with instant upload off. I remember the Nokia symbian days when I used to get apps from websites like psiloc.com. I have been a proud owner of a Nokia 6600 and Nokia E90 among others. I was starting to think that some of my favourite things about them had been lost. I had psiloc ir remote installed when I went to Africa on holiday and managed to switch off televisions in a shop, which I thought was funny. This goes back 6 years or so. This was because these phones had infrared which I thought had been lost with the introduction of the Samsung galaxy range. Thank god it's back on the galaxy s4. The symbian os v9 on my old Nokia E90 allowed me to have widgets that I could rearrange. I thought this had been lost with the introduction of the iPhone. It seems that phone technology is going backwards. Some of the apps we had back then are still to be discovered. Got my Samsung galaxy S4 yesterday and have given it a run. The one underrated app is the watchon app. Basically, it's a remote control app which also makes suggestions for programs to watch based on your preferences. You can also watch these within the app as well. The remote control has worked brilliantly on my lounge and bedroom tvs and the sky+ box, as well as my Hitachi freeview box. You can also allocate and name different remotes to different rooms. So far the battery life is better than on the galaxy S3 with most futures on. Just I've 24 hours.

I have just been trying out this app from the mobile network giant O2. The app is called "Tu Go" and is for O2 subsribers only. I installed it on my Galaxy Tab 10.1 wifi only. The idea is that your O2 number is used to make calls and messages. You inclusive texts and minutes are used which is the one drawback compared to say whatsapp. I was able to make calls from my tablet over wifi. The only issue i observed was that there was a slight delay when making the call i.e. when you press call, the recipient's phone will not ring for about 30 seconds. O2 acknowledges that there is a long way to go. They are making improvements to set themselves apart from the usual VoIP. Update 5 March 2013 I had another go today. I noticed that Tu Go maintains your call and message log in sync with the phone logs. I turned the phone off and took the sim out of the phone. I was still able to make calls over wifi. The galaxy s3 is a great phone and there is no better phone out there at the moment. In fact, the best combination of 2 great names (Samsung and Google) means that i can't wait to get my handa on the galaxy s4. I am hoping though that they fix one problem which is the battery life. i currently can not go a full day of normal use on one charge. I'm having to use my phone on power saving mode which is not ideal as i can't explore all the features the phone offers. It looks like my smart phone would have to be an ordinary one until this is sorted.
